Proposed Route Improvements for Addison County: We Want Your Feedback
MIDDLEBURY — Tri-Valley Transit (TVT) is considering several improvements to the 116 Commuter and Middlebury Shuttle Bus (Hannaford MSB) and we’d like to hear what you think before any changes are finalized.
The proposed updates are designed to better match how people are using our services today while improving convenience and access to key destinations.
Proposed Changes to the 116 Commuter
The 116 Commuter provides weekday service between Middlebury and Burlington along VT-116 for morning and evening commuters. Based on feedback from our recent LINK and 116 Commuter rider surveys, TVT is proposing:
- A later evening departure from Burlington. The final southbound 116 Commuter Bus #4 would depart the Burlington Downtown Transit Center at 5:30 p.m. instead of 5:15 p.m., giving commuters additional time at the end of the workday.
- A new northbound request stop at Tilley Drive in South Burlington, providing more convenient access for UVM Medical Center employees, patients, and visitors.
Proposed Changes to the Middlebury Shuttle Bus Hannaford Route
TVT is also evaluating improvements to the weekday Hannaford–Adirondack House at Middlebury College shuttle route.
Proposed changes include:
- Adding request stops at:
- Gather, the community drop-in living room space at the Bread Loaf Mountain Zen Community building on Court Street.
- Middlebury Fitness on Wilson Road, near the HOPE Community Services stop.
- Serving each stop once per loop rather than twice, creating a more efficient route and reducing travel time.
- Exploring a possible route extension to Shaw’s if route-timing tests show it can be added while maintaining reliable service.
