New Look for Local Transit Company
In 2017, the public transportation systems in Addison, Orange and Northern Windsor counties merged to form Tri-Valley Transit. After continuing to do business as ACTR and Stagecoach until just recently, the system is now transitioning fully to Tri-Valley Transit (TVT). With regional offices remaining in Middlebury and Randolph, this change in the company’s image reflects the unification that better meets the transportation needs for people in 50 towns across a 2,400 square mile stretch of central Vermont.
After completing the process of developing a new logo that represents the organization, Tri-Valley Transit is excited to start showing it off on buses, signs, and buildings across the region. Working together since 2014, Stagecoach and ACTR have aligned staff, operations, and services to develop a stronger organization culminating in this change in public presence. “It is really gratifying to have this visual representation of the work our staff puts in together, across our regions,” said TVT Executive Director, Jim Moulton.
A committee of Tri-Valley Transit staff and board members worked with The Image Farm, a Middlebury-based design company, to develop the new image, seeking community input and guidance along the way. “The group worked really hard to develop an image that we feel reflects the organization and communities we serve,” Moulton added. “Retaining blue from the ACTR logo and orange from Stagecoach gives a nod to the long history of the organizations. Vermont’s terrain and our transportation-based mission are reflected in the graphic of a mountain with a forward arrow.”
Riders will continue to see ACTR and Stagecoach logos around for a while, Moulton refers to the investment in re-branding a fleet that includes more than 40 buses and three buildings, but staff have already begun making the change. Callers to the main offices in Middlebury and Randolph will hear phones answered with “Tri-Valley Transit”, and drivers will be donning the new logo on uniforms this fall. “The only thing changing is the name and logo,” assured Moulton. “Riders will still see and talk to the same drivers and office staff that have provided the high level of service they’ve grown accustomed to.”
Since 1976, Tri-Valley Transit has provided nearly 4,500,000 rides to people in the Champlain, White River, and Upper Connecticut River Valleys. Services include fixed route bus service providing public transportation for local and commuter routes as well as a robust “Dial-A-Ride” system that provides door to door transportation for qualifying elders, people with disabilities, and families facing financial challenges.
